Onward, Southward!

From Prince George, we drove south past Williams lake to lac LaHache provincial park. It is a nice wooded campground, and only $16. There are sites overlooking the lake, but are too close to the road, so we chose one away from the road.

From here, we drove south to Cache creek, and east on hwy 1. The terrain is about the same, but much drier, and no trees. It is strange to see the rivers flooded in the valley, and farmers irrigating the fields.
Interesting colors. You can see the flooded river by the trees.
We stopped at Lac LeJeune Provincial park for the night. It is a nice campground on a very pretty lake. We sat by the fire, and Shelly spoiled the dogs.
They don't usually like each other this much. Sadie and Bentley, that is.
Bentley's health is getting worse, and we're afraid he won't be around much longer.
We planned on staying at Okanagan falls Provincial park, but drove through there around noon, and decided to go on to the border. They checked the refrigerator for fresh fruits or vegetables, but we were through in a few minutes, and on our way south. Shelly was happy that she had her phone again. We were stopped in traffic for a paving project for about 45 minutes, so we made phone calls to check on everyone. We drove west on hwy 20 into the mountains to Loup Loup campground. We had been in the truck about 7 hours, and decided to stay here two or three nights. We visited with the camp hosts, Greg and Lois, while sitting around a campfire until 10. They kept trying to convince us we would like being a camp host. We have always said we might try it someday.
On Wednesday, Shelly went to Twisp to get a few groceries and do laundry. I hiked up the mountain at Loup Loup ski area.

We sat by the fire and planned which way to go next. We wanted to avoid Seattle traffic, but I wanted to drive through the Cascades again, so we'll leave the Airstream here and drive the North Cascades highway.

Diablo lake overlook. We ate Fritos with tuna fish for a gourmet lunch here!

We sat by a campfire again, and watched the sun set, listening to the owls and night birds.
Sadie is having a hard time adjusting to the long nights. It is interfering with sleeping 20 hours a day.
A swimming moose. She was splashing around having fun.
Shelly spotted a moose in a swamp.
We drove to Grand Coulie dam, and toured the visitor center. Big dam visitor center.

We thought this sign was funny
We stopped at dry falls. At the end of the ice age, massive floods from melting glaciers washed over this spot, creating a waterfall many times larger than Niagara. I'll bet the native Americans were thinking their fires were causing the global warming.
We were planning on stopping at Sun Lakes state park, but a small wildfire at the entrance had the park closed temporarily. The sheriff said we could wait, but we drove on to Soap lake, and set up in a city park called Smokiam. It is only $20 for full hookups, and we backed up to Soap lake.
During the afternoon, the wind was calm, but during the night, the wind picked up, and it sounded like we were near the ocean. We drove to Ephrata, and had the oil changed, while we bought groceries. In the evening, we went to a powwow next to the campground.
